There is a common misconception that our practice does not see patients with medical insurance. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. Approximately half of our patients have medical insurance, the majority being high deductible plans where the patient must pay the initial costs for the calendar year out-of-pocket. This type of coverage is becoming more common as cost of insurance premiums continues to rise.
Richard R Samuel, MD Family Practice and Urgent Care is the ideal medical practice for many people in Kootenai County, both for the uninsured as well as those with high deductible medical plans. Our fees are very competitive, and, unlike other local offices and urgent care centers, patients always see the same Board Certified physician. Many other facilities utilize lesser trained physician assistants and nurse practitioners. Patients can almost always be seen the same day, and we openly give an estimate of charges anticipated for a particular visit. For our insured patients, we provide insurance codes on the fee slip so that a patient can attempt to get reimbursed for the visit (not allowed by Medicare and Medicaid). Adequate time is spent with each patient to assure the correct diagnosis and treatment, and we competently take care of 90% of any medical problem that a patient may have.
