Many of us will get a muscle spasm in our neck or back sometime during our lives. Frequently, massage, moist heat, stretches and/or muscle relaxers are enough to work out these “kinks”. More severe and persistent spasms occasionally require a visit to the physical therapist or chiropractor, both who oftentimes utilize various treatments including electrical stimulation and/or ultrasound.

At our practice we perform a safe, effective in-office procedure known as a trigger point injection. As this video shows, a small amount of anti-inflammatory cortisone plus a numbing agent is directly injected into the point of maximal tenderness, providing immediate relief:
